Celebrate Selfless Leaders and Helping Hands

Every day, countless individuals make a difference—whether through their work, their kindness, or their willingness to step up when others need it most. These community heroes help keep our world moving and make life a little better for everyone around them.

Now it’s our turn to say thank you.

With your help, we’re recognizing these Unsung Heroes by giving away 5 pairs of VIP weekend passes to the Under the Big Sky Music & Arts Festival

Unsung Heroes Could Be:

Mike Colyer

Missoula Police Chief Mike Colyer has dedicated nearly three decades to serving his hometown and is being recognized for his leadership, humility, and commitment to the community. Since joining the department in 1996, he has risen through the ranks while building trust with the public, strengthening community connections, and empowering the 118 officers under his leadership. His focus on service above self continues to leave a lasting impact throughout Missoula.

Julieann Moss Jaffe

Julieann Moss Jaffe moved from the Philippines to the United States in 2011 and has dedicated her life to caring for others through Azaleas Home Care and Mountain Pine Assisted Living in Stevensville. Since opening Mountain Pine in 2022, she has provided hands-on care for residents while creating a welcoming environment that residents and staff deeply appreciate. Inspired by her family and a passion for helping others, she continues to support both her residents in Montana and children in the Philippines through charitable efforts.

Lisa Harshbarger

Lisa Harshbarger is a devoted advocate for children, sexual assault survivors, and animals, dedicating her career and volunteer efforts to making a difference in her community. As an administrative assistant for First Step at Providence St. Patrick Hospital and a foster volunteer with Animeals, she believes in being part of the solution rather than waiting for change to happen. Her compassion, service, and commitment to helping others make her a deserving Hometown Hero.

Maggie Sherrill

In addition to being an incredible 1st grade teacher at Elrod Elementary, Maggie Sherrill has dedicated the past nine years to volunteering with Girls on the Run Western Montana, inspiring and empowering young girls through running and confidence-building programs. Through her work as both a coach and summer camp leader, she has helped countless girls find their voice, build self-confidence, and achieve goals they never thought possible. With more than 1,000 volunteer hours invested in our community, Maggie is truly an Unsung Hero and a shining example of service and leadership.

Julian Nizzoli

Julian has become a driving force in the Flathead disc golf community, helping organize tournaments, leagues, and new opportunities for players across the valley. Using his expertise as a civil engineer, he designed and helped install the new disc golf course at River’s Edge Park in Columbia Falls, expanding access to the sport for even more community members. His passion, leadership, and dedication continue to inspire others to grow the sport and bring people together through disc golf.
