A Message from the President & CEO, James Kenyon:
As Montana moves to Phase 2 of the statewide reopening on June 1, I would like to share with you and explain our decision to restrict access to our branch lobbies for the foreseeable future.
Our lobbies temporarily closed on March 19, and since that time we have helped members exclusively through our drive-thru tellers and call center. For those who required services that could only be accomplished in a branch, we have made special appointments that afforded us the opportunity to sanitize our branches in a manner consistent with current health guidelines. We will continue to make these services available until we are able to return our lobbies to full service.
I recognize that many members may have questions on why we are continuing these restrictions while other local financial institutions may be returning to business as usual. After all, there are few active cases in our state and the governor has authorized businesses to open their doors.
Whitefish Credit Union exists to serve the needs of our members and in times like these our objective is to provide services in a consistent, reliable, and safe manner. As we consider our options, we also take into consideration the feedback we receive from our members. Since our lobby restrictions were put in place, we have received near unanimous support with our decision to prioritize the safety of our members and employees. This will remain our priority as we navigate the pandemic, and we will continue to encourage members to utilize our services in a manner that promotes social distancing.
As the Northwest Montana economy is heavily reliant on outside visitors, our objective is to ensure we don’t expose our members or employees to the potential of a local flare-up of the virus that could then reduce our members access to financial services, even for a short period. When we are confident that we can open our doors and keep them open without exposing our employees and members to any unnecessary exposure to the COVID-19 virus, we will do so expeditiously. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and actively review all available data in determining the reopening of our branch lobbies. To be sure, we will be excited to welcome you back to our branches soon when we are able to ensure the safety of everyone who visits.
- All drive-thru tellers will be open to serve you during the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
- The telephone call center will be available to help you during the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday at (877) 862-3525.
- All branch lobbies are closed to members and will remain closed until further notice.
- New loans, memberships, and deposit accounts can be opened online.
- Appointments can be made for special needs. Please call us at (877) 862-3525 to request an appointment.

If you have been financially impacted by the coronavirus and need our support, we are here to help. We have multiple options available to you if you need immediate financial assistance or relief from your Whitefish Credit Union loan payment.

Economic Impact Payment (Federal Government Coronavirus Assistance)
We continue to receive Economic Impact Payment direct deposits. We will post the funds as we receive them from the IRS. Questions about the timing of your Economic Impact Payment should be directed to the IRS as we have no control on when funds are released. State of Montana - Coronavirus Relief Grants
The State of Montana has announced more than $123 million in emergency grants for families, small businesses, non-profits, health services centers and individuals across Montana hardest-hit by impacts of COVID-19. This includes grants for emergency housing assistance and small businesses who have sustained a loss of revenue due to COVID-19. We encourage you to take advantage of our home and mobile banking platforms to transact as much business as possible, including viewing your transactions, checking balances, depositing checks, and making payments.
All online services, including our CO-OP ATM Network remain available to serve you.
